How to get there

Jizzakh is on the Tashkent-Samarkand railway, about 2h30 by regional train. Zaamin national park is a further 2 hours by car up the mountain road.

When to visit

May to October for the mountains; Zaamin is a genuine escape from the July and August heat. Winter brings snow and a small ski area.

Transport

Regional trains and shared taxis reach Jizzakh; the national park needs a hired car. Buses to Zaamin town run daily but not into the park itself.

Practical information

The park charges a small entrance fee. The mountain road is winding and partly unpaved above the sanatorium belt; a normal car is fine in summer only.

Safety

Mountain weather changes quickly and evenings are cold even in summer. Carry a layer, and do not rely on mobile coverage inside the park.
